Charles E. Blakely was born in Dallas, Texas and at the age of 2 along with his parents moved to Rockford, Illinois where he was reared. This is where he developed his love for singing. His first opportunity to sing came at the age of 9 while singing with a childhood Gospel Group that sang around the Rockford, Illinois area. At the age of 15, Charles moved with his parents to Rosston, Arkansas. He recorded his first gospel release, “Oh Lord I Want To Be Close To Thee”, as a member of The Bright Stars of Bluff City, Arkansas with Champ Records of Nashville, Tennessee. In 1983 Charleswent on to sing with Spencer Taylor and The Highway QC’s. In 1984 he started singing with Willie Banks and The Messengers of Jackson, Mississippi. After the passing of Willie Banks, Charlesbecame the lead vocalist for the Messengers. The Messengers recorded 5 CDs, which sold to thousands of fans around the world.
Charles is now continuing his career through the sound Southern Soul with his first release; “I Didn’t Want To Wake Up From This Dream”, from the full CD “Body Talk” which did get great reviews.
In 2021 Charles became a part of the CapeTown Records Family and now he is working toward dropping another CD full of hit songs. His first release, “I Lied To Myself” is a very powerful song that you will probably realize that you could be singing.
